If the media hadn't taken to sensionalising this case all out of proportion and using it to try and stick it to the Government, if ratbags like Bakir hadn't sought to capitalise on her situation, if the bleeding-heart handwringer brigade weren't so loud and hysterical, if the armchair experts and lawyers hadn't been so arrogant, insulting and outspoken in their condemnation of Indonesians and the Indonesian legal system, there is every chance the Indonesians might have come to some sort of quiet comprimise. As it has turned out, all of the above hysterics backed them into a corner leaving them no-where to go and no way of saving face, which is a big thing with Asians.
Now all you brave types can accuse me of appeasement and arselicking but before you do I would like to point out that it's not your's or my arse on the line. If it all goes wrong, which it already has, it's Corby's arse in a sling, not yours.
As I have previously posted, the media got Barlow and Chambers hanged in Malaysia in the mid-80s and it is the media again and their hanger's-on that have condemned Corby to her fate.
I am not about to argue her guilt or her innocence because, just like you, I don't have the facts. And I wouldn't go quoting the Australian media as a source of facts. Their "story" changed from day-to-day and all it ended up doing was misinform the misinformed and beating-up a beatup.
Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one and they all sing a different tune.
Has anyone ever given thought to the possibility that the AFP wanted to stay out of the case becuase it might have had evidence that if released, could have had her shot?
