Talking of Desecration ... 3174
I would not fault his courage or his convictions in that case, but I would reject his methods of trying to insbreastute change in a place that will not respond...

But I have. See below

You see, George, what Bush has been doing is exactly what I was on about. He isn't actually going in there waving a bible, is he? You said that's what people should do in Saudi Arabia or else they are cowards. I said they should be doing it more indirectly, and that's the tack any slightly smart administration would take. So thanks for proving my point so effectively. That's exactly what he's doing. Or trying to! Not that he deserves the credit for everything slightly more liberal that is happening in Kuwait. There are plenty of models for Muslim women to gain more freedoms in Islam that impact more upon Kuwaiti women than any economic screws that Bush might be threatening to puppet regimes like the Saudi elite.

But it wouldn't help anything! That's the point. It would do SFA!! I would rather do something that has a chance of a positive outcome.

You're being silly again, George. You have no idea what I've done and where I've been. None whatsoever.

Your word, not mine.

If he did, would you fault him if the Saudi government decided to arrest him and burn his bible? Interesting that nothing was even...

Agreed. But I am not talking appeasement.

True, it can do that. As can the use of direct force to confront it. As is happening now in Iraq. I am not talking appeasement; I'm talking common sense.

Yes, if you are afraid to do that, you may well be a coward. Your silly error is buttuming that there are only two alternatives. There are many. You can't even begin to think laterally.

If you were in good health, what exactly would you be doing, George? Lay it on the line for us all to see.

Save your self-righteous indignation for someone who actually is in that category. You have no idea what I've done or where I've been, but that doesn't bother me. People who matter do know.

You are always challenging people to provide evidence, I see. So give me some names!

She was showing that US foreign policy has been a colossal failure, and is thrashing around hoping for some inspiration as to how to do anything about it.

Name one single human rights reform measure that was implemented in Saudi Arabia prior to Bush putting pressure on the Saudis. Name one single human rights reform that came about in...

And it's all so simple. Get out of Iraq and let the Iraqis solve their own problems in their own way! That's the main thing you have to persuade your government to do.

Interesting that you voted Democrat in the more recent US elections. I'm curious enough to ask why, but I accept that it is your own business. The policies of the Democrats seem completely at odds with everything you have said so far.
