If he did, would you fault him if the Saudi government decided to arrest him and burn his bible?
Interesting that nothing was even considered as far as human rights is concerned in these countries until Bush started stressing the issue.
Tell that to those civil rights proponents in the U.S. in the 1960s, many of whom were arrested for their civil disobedience. The publicity currounding their arrests brought civil rights to the forefront of media attention and was instrumental in getting the civil rights act pbutted.
No I don't. I have a clue, though, based on your atbreastude.
Yes you are.

Did direct confrontation strengthen Hitler? I don't think so.
If I am living in Saudi Arabia, I have two choices today where practicing a religion other than Islam is concerned: I can break the law and practice my religion, or I can deny my faith and obey a bigoted law. I'm not a religious man, but if I was, you can bet that I would not deny myself my right to practice my faith regardless of where I live.
If I was in good health, I'd probably be working overseas for the Peace Corps or CARE. Because of my health, all I can do is donate.
If I don't know, that is your fault, not mine.
Oh please. I'm not about to post a list of private individuals on usenet. That may be your modus operandi, but it is certainly not mine.
Sorry. That isn't going to happen. If we did that, and they fell into a nasty civil war, are you prepared to buttume responsibility for insisting that we withdraw our forces prematurely?
Yes, it is my business, but if you must know it is because I completely disagree with Bush's domestic policies, and always have. I am a conservative Democrat (yes, there are still some of us left). I don't have a problem with the fact that we invaded Iraq. Many Democrats agree with it. Many Democrats in Congress voted for it. So, if Bush has done something wrong, so has everyone else. My opinion is not that the war was wrong, but that how some of it was conducted (i.e., letting Saddam's army set their weapons on the side of the road and melding into the general population) and how the immediate aftermath (and the public relations disaster at Abu Graith) was conducted was a big mistake and has resulted in what we are seeing today in Iraq. I don't believe for one minute that this person 'insurgency' is a popular movement amongst the Iraqi people, or is supported by ordinary Iraqis.
The majority of Democrats in Congress voted for the war, Rifty. That certainly is NOT at odds with anything I have said. And whether you choose to believe it or not, there are - believe it or not - Democrats in the military fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan today. The point is, Rifty, that this is not a Democrat or Republican issue, although it is quite obvious that many ultraleftists would have the world believe otherwise.
