You really don't know ? Geez where would I start, with the last 70 years of regional history? - To keep this simple for you, I'll limit it to West Papua history. As part of the Standard Oil quest for mineral wealth, in 1935 Standard Oil covertly buys 60% control of NNGPM, through which it sends a Dutch geologist Jean Dozy to explore West Papua for any mineral wealth. In 1936 he discovers the world's richest Copper & Gold deposits. Being sacred Mountains and under Dutch administration there was no hope of the Americans getting a mine license untill the Dutch are replaced; of course the Rockefellers (Standard Oil) know of dozens of mine sites awaiting a chance to mine them, so long as no-one else knows about the gold it is safe.

In early 1949 members of the Indonesian elite in New York & Washington promise easy access to "the wealth of Asia" in exchange for support of their 'independence claim'. This is the colonial arrangement the Rockefeller & Ford Foundations had been working towards - - to re-create the old Dutch East Indies company model with US corporations instead of Dutch. The Javanese do the dirty work of military occupation, and the Americans get to pretend they are innocent businessmen (see David Ransom's "Building an Elite for Indonesia")

All is going well, the East Indies has been re-colonized by the Javanese instead of the Dutch, although President Sukarno has proven too difficult to finalise business deals with; in 1957 the Ford Foundation discovers the Indonesian Generals are much more eager to sign off on business deals and recommend to the CIA that it now start funding the Indonesian military instead of the Indonesian government (Sukarno). The Dutch government had found alluvial gold flowing into our Arafura Sea, and they were starting to search for it, the source is of course the Timika deposits which had been found in 1936. The Rockefellers poo gold-bricks in fear that their deposit might be found before they got to lay claim to it - they now have to accelerate the Javanese occupation & establish their claim within Netherlands New Guinea at the same time. To do this they search for the only Dutch company which had a working mining relationship with Jakarta, which was the 'East Borneo Company' (Oost Borneo Maatschaappij (OBM)), whom they tell about the copper deposit. In Jan-1060 the Rockefeller's 'Freeport Sulphur' company sign a contract with OBM to mine West Papua for copper ; they now approach the Dutch colonial administration to put a claim in on the area as a copper deposit.

Having secured their site from discovery, the business of getting the Javanese military in continues. On 1-Dec-1961 the West Papuans raise their new national flag, the Morning Star; see New York Times article

Two weeks later Indonesia attempts it first full invasion of Papua. However their paratroopers landing in the highlands are all taken prisoner by the villagers who send runners for Papuan troops to come & take these Indonesians into custody.. In Washington the CIA now tell JFK that Indonesia and then Australia will become communist nations unless he forces the Netherlands to surrender West Papua to Indonesia : see

After the Indonesian military get into West Papua, Freeport Sulphur gets it first 30 year license in 1967 under General Suharto.

Who are these US companies ? In 1994 they created a new Lobby group called the "US Indonesia Society" - by looking up their membership you will find each member is an executive of one of these companies; Bechtel Inc ; Exxon ; Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. ; Conco Philips ; etc. etc.

Since Jan-2001 George Bush has been campaigning to implement the US Indonesia Society agenda; at the yearly sub-committee on US Indonesia relations, the US Dept. of State reports have been replaced by the US Indonesia Society's "National Report" and by many personal presentations by the President & others of the US Indonesia Society.

But last year we sneaked copies of other reports to the US Congressmen on the sub-committee ; and you wouldn't believe it, but even a Republic majority Congress supported them against George Bush & the US Indo Society.

In response the US Congress wrote a new Section 1115 of this years 'Foreign Relations Authorization' bill HR 2601,

Although President Yudhoyono the next day warned the US not to pbutt this Section, their Senate has anyway. Ignoring Congress & the Senate, George Bush & Condi. Rice have used their personal authority to resume IMET and other US funding of the Indonesian military.

Compared to the US economy, the US Indonesia Society cartel profits are not huge, but they are the cream for these companies, and these companies are the same ones who are the 'neo-conservative' movement in the United States. They don't care that Sukarno was promoting a anti-US jihad since 1944 ; they only care about access to their profits, to the globalization work factories of Java from 1965 to the late 1980s before they discovered Mexico was closer ; and to the mineral wealth of the nations under Javanese military occupation.

That's why the Javanese & Freeport are in continental Australian West Papua. And that's why our text books and universities since the mid 1930s stop making any mention of New Guinea being part of the Australian continent; complete with Wallabies, tree kangaroos, echidna, cbuttorwaies, etc, etc. George Bush does NOT want West Papua in the news, and John Howard knows this.
