What bigotry??? Unless you're talking about bigotry against parasites, I'd like to thing most of us aren't particularly happy with parasites. His comments had nothing to do with race, religion or anything else.
No-one in this country, be they fresh immigrants or people who've been here for the last 200+ years, should be copping 50,000 dollars on welfare. That is just f***ing ridiculous.
Furthermore it goes to show our immigration system is totally f***ed if we are importing dole bludgers. We shouldn't be doing that, we should be importing send & valuable buttets, not parasites. This guy is an aircraft engineer, he should have been able to work for a living before his questionable activities saw him jailed, why did he very rarely do so? Because he didn't have to here, and has a parasite mentality.
Solutions? Perhaps all immigrants (regardless of where they come from) should only be given PR status at the point they'd previously have been given citizenship, and then a good 5 years of "under review" time occurs. If they have not fully supported themselves in that time, stayed right out of trouble, and not been of questionable character, then the PR status should be revoked, you're told "sorry mate, but you're not an buttet to this country" and kicked out the door. If they have done all the right things then, and only then, should they be offered citizenship.
But of course he was a refugee. That nice little avenue where any scumbag, parasite or criminal can get into this country no questions asked. We're shooting our own country in the head by trying to pretend to be politically correct. I think refugees should only be looked after until it's safe to send them home, no matter how f***ing long that is.
If whilst under our protection they want to apply for citizenship, and show that they can stay out of trouble, support themselves and gain the skills to be worthwhile additions to the country then great! If not, even if it's 10 years down the track, kick them the f*** out. We wiped their arses while their home was dangerous, they did nothing to return the favour, so we don't f***ing want them.
The sad things is there are quite a few REAL refugees that really do need to be protected, really are grateful, and do come into this country and make something of themselves. It's sad to see them tainted by the scumbags that are all too commonly taking advantage of the refugee highway. For these good people, if for nothing else, we should tighten things right up, so they don't suffer from the stigma of the other scumbags currently coming in via that channel.
