Shmaryahu b. Chanoch I think that is a very sensible approach. Although I am an atheist myself, I enjoy pondering what God would be like nonetheless. And that is the kind of thing I have come up with as well. The only problem is that there is no guarantee that the New Testament is the definitive version. Rather, one could argue that we continue, with God's blessing, to learn about the universe. Einstein, who was quite religious, always talked about his motivation in such terms. In that sense, we could argue that the discovery by Darwin and others of evolution represents an updated version of our (God-given) knowledge of the world. The more metaphoric model of Genesis is replaced with another description. Something tells me, though, that most Christians would not agree with such a view. Martin Holterman

There are questions on the Gospels. Matthew seems to be the most accurate. But they do give a picture. But then the Gospels are more about the completion of the Torah than a basis for Christianity. It is the writings of Paul who really forms what Christianity is....
