You continue to ignore reality. The above is an example. If 35% of the Committee disagrees there is in fact "severe disagreement". That does *not* change the...

You've obviously not ever lost anyone close to you in a way where you're not there when it happens and no-one you know or trust was around at the time, and no body at the end of it to seal the matter. I have. You might think it's easy to be clinical about it, but take it from me that at the time and for a long period after it ain't even remotely that easy.

Not a word I'm keen on myself, tends to come up a lot with victims of crime supposedly "forgiving" their buttailants. A futile and bullpoo lying effort if you ask me in that scenario. You've come across in many cases as a bit of a lefty though (forgive me if I'm wrong) so thought I'd throw up a term I thought you might be comfortable with. 8

In this particular scenario though I do think it has some valid meaning. There's nothing false about it. Losing someone but not knowing in your heart for sure what's really happening (and trust me, you don't exactly think logically when poo like that's going on), that's probly one of the few occasions where I think the lefty term of "closure" probly has some meaning.

Where did he die??? Was he around people you trusted? Was he accounted for? Or was he "lost" without any really knowledge despite what some court or foreign country happened to tell you? There's a really big f***ing difference.

You're putting this at a one fits all level. Life doesn't work that way I'm afraid.

Not for me or you to determine, as I'm not religious (errhem, other than being a Drunken Jedi), and from what I can tell you aren't either.

I never advocated that, I was commenting on your opinions. To be honest though, if I had more trust in our court system than I do (I don't have much) then I would advocate such measures. If the **** was proven to be guilty as opposed to "proven" to be guilty, I'd be more than happy to see him tortured into giving the details. f*** doing it politely. He lost all rights to being treated as a human when he stopped acting like a human.

As long as you hurt no-one and no-one hurts you then all is well. They are hurting no-one by asking to have final proof in their own minds of the rest of their loved one. You say that wasn't an issue to you when your father died, but what is the bet that you had absolutely no doubt of his rest, complete with body. Imagine not having that body, just having the word of complete strangers you've never met. Trust me, it's not that easy to accept.

Why??? Do you say people should not wear their religious garb in public? People should not be allowed to mention their religions in public??? I don't agree. As long as they are not hurting anyone else I don't see a problem.

How do you perceive that they are doing this??? Sorry, but I don't see it.

What emotional involvement??? Technically from a legal perspective all bases should be covered. That involves locating the body. From a cold and harsh health and safety issue you don't want a dead body floating around either. Insurance companies as well would probly like that proof. And at the end of the day, why are you so against the effort being made to locate the body?

Agreed.

Ditto. I feel bad for strangers that end up in such hardship, but at the end of the day it's only when me, my family and those I care about end up in this sort of boat that it really hurts. Doesn't mean you can't feel compbuttion for others when they go through the same sort of thing.

It's a hard world. Soft solutions are only making it harder. But hard solutions are what are required for the scum and problems of society. The truly good and innocent people should have those of us that have been there and done that doing everything we can to help them out, they're the only f***ing hope our society has left.

In dealing with scum yes. Not in dealing with the innocent. I think things have been pushed too far to the middle. Society needs to have more compbuttion for the innocent and truly needy, and needs to be a lot harsher on the scumbags and the fakes who pretend to be needy. Equality is a good thing, but our politically correct society has royally f***ed it up by taking it all wayyyy too far.

I don't agree with you in any way, shape or form. What I'm f***ing fed up with is treating the guilty as if they are the victims. They're ****s. Plain and simple. The victims deserve every bit of compbuttion we can give them, and the guilty deserve to be f***ed up, not kissed on the arse and told "tut tut, don't do it again now, here's your payout and please don't get caught next time!".

On that I do agree with you. Help them, get them back on their feet, but it ain't something to be milked. We all go through hardship, and some of us are lucky enough to find we've got friends we never knew the true quality of before it happened. All deserve to be looked after in such times, but at the end of the day we've all got to get over it and move on.
