Now multiculturalISM is the notion that they should have, under our common law, equal freedom to practice their culture, be it footballers shagging each others wives, Protestantism, Catholicism, tiresome Socialites who drink themselves to rest, or working clbutt blokes at the pub.
Having multiple cultures is another way of saying FREEDOM, so long as you don't break the law.
We have always had that, it's called 'CRIMINALS'.
Some of the worst criminals were the monoculturists of the 20th Century, Nazis and Fascists.
How is a discussion about freedom to be Catholic or Protestant or Jewish all under the common, democratically created, law more an issue for multiculture than monoculture?
At least a diverse multiculture allows such freedom within the law, the monoculturalists simply gas the minority Jews! 8^o
Give us a concrete example where it's been a significant issue which we need to worry about.. European law allowing the destruction of habitat and pollution of rivers if you 'own' them, being in conflict with aboriginal law that we are custodians of the land as a sacred trust for our children?
Or Howard believing in American culture's support for torture, even though it has always been against our most important laws and traditions!?
Or are we going to get upset at trivial differences like Jewish Kosher food laws, or sacrificing live animals on Yom Kippur, because it might upset the RSPCA?
Sounds like you have a problem with federalism, and are opposed to States in Australia and the US, and dozens of other countries having separate laws, parliaments that make them, and courts to administer them.. all legal of course, under laws that suggest we think multiple legal systems is a STRENGTH against tyranny.
If you are serious about tearing it down, you really need to make a rational case for replacing federalism with One Nation Guvmint.
