The ugly face of USstyle justice 4205

If I were completely sober, I would agree with you in a way. I would say, see, the world hates us, the UN failed, let's junk it, the USA should be isolationist, and move on. The Europeans hate the USA, etc. But, right now I'm about halfway into a bottle of Southern Comfort and my liberal wife is playing Gil Scot Heron, life is good, and I'm thinking in happier terms.

So, let's re-imagine things a bit. I'll throw my preconcieved notions out the window if you throw yours. The object here is to ensure human rights across the globe. That is our goal. I think you can agree to that. Although I am obviously that most obnoxious of Americans, the American Bush Supporting Republican, in your eyes, I am fairly open minded about things. To wit, I disagree with the President's position on gay marriage and USA PATRIOT. There are many Republicans that feel the same way.

Now, to get back to matters at hand. The United Nations fails because it cannot, because of its emphasis on sovereignty, guarantee basic human rights. I believe that this is a fundamental flaw to the insbreastutation and that the UN needs to evolve to support Democracy. That is, Democracy is the form of government that every nation on the world should have. Sovereignty above all else was Roosevelt's mistake. It allows thugs like Hussein to exist.

What is an alpha males
Many feminists argue that prohitibition of prosbreastution and polygamy protect women's right. What right is protected by prohibiting consensual offers from males? What about women that want several husband? What about women that would rather...

So, let's pretend for a minute that you and other concerned Europeans on this board and I are heads of state and see if we cannot thrash out some sort of popular consensus. How would we do a United Nations that actively seeks to support Democracy?

1) We, both the EU and the USA, have a problem in that China will never go along. Right now, China is playing the EU and the USA against each other, witness the Euro appraising unrealistically because the Yuan doesn't float against the dollar. Why not a common currency between EU and USA?

2) For that matter, can the EU and USA ever stop playing its silly games of selling weapons to dictators? Why do thugs around the world have to be either, in the case of the middle east, be equipped with either Mirage jets or US F-16s?

3) Why does Chirac advocate lifting the EU arms embargo on China?

4) Many European states are small and if the economies of the middle east liberalize, then arabia will ultimately become a real economic rival to the EU. But isn't NATO enough? And if arabia is a democracy, then wouldn't trade between the EU and arabia be incredible? What if the Silk road were re-opened? Historically, trade between the EU and China has been overseas, but, hundreds of years ago, overland was the preferred way to go.

I don't know, but I think that the United Nations of today that emphasises National Sovereignty has to be replaced by an international body that emphasises individual freedom and democracy. Yes, every government of every nation should be democratic. It is simply time for humanity to take that step. But, what would it take to get Europe on board for that mission?
