Cannabis isn't contagionous. Neither is coffee(some might disagree). Both are recreational drugs...

Yes, it allows us to discriminate between drugs used in medicinal context, drugs used in a military context ( eg air-force pilots being fed uppers to keep them lively - interrogation subjects being drugged to extract information) and drugs used in a recreational context.

Pyne is a choice f***wit. He'd be the first needle to whinge about PC, but is unaware of his own failings.

Exactly. To be inclusive, you must use inclusive language, "mum and dad" being EXCLUSIVE - it discrimates against those from single parent families, gay families, or those kids raised by a relative other than a parent.

Describing a drug as medicinal, recreational or military puts these drugs into their correct context. A pharmacist sells drugs in a medical context... A publican sells drugs in a recreational context, as does the drug "pusher". The context brings a set of expectations and atbreastudes to bear on people's actions.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "gateway" drug... unless you are talking about the Doors of Perception (sorry Aldous).

The government is very interested in alcohol and tobacco. They make a fortune from both drugs, even though these drugs cost a fortune in medical costs.

I personally get annoyed with the saying "drugs and alcohol". It implies that alcohol is not a drug, something separate from "drugs" which have been given an evil connotation outside the medical context.

Yeah well, unfortunately our government is full of Christopher Pynes (both sides of the house). That's why our government has become a laughing stock around the world.
