These are exactly the sort of cunning plans (a la Baldrick) that the US has been playing in the region for years, when Saddam was their man. Not working too well and never did. All they did was alienate the entire Middle East, especially by allowing Israel free rein. Either way they are going to end up with a government or governments they can't work with.
Don't like it because it will achieve the opposite result to what you intended. If we were at war with some definable enemy and the levelling of Mecca had even the ghost of a chance of accomplishing your objective, bring in the B-52s. But the levelling of Mecca would produce more jihadis than you could ever imagine, and at least of them would be standing right beside you at some stage... and believe me, your heart would indeed be bleeding.
I'm afraid you're talking as if this is Cowboys and Indians. Maybe you should ask MacP what he thinks of this as a miitary strategy. I suspect he might ask you first of all what your military objective is. That could be embarrbutting.
