Well, they're not good little consumers stuggling their way up the corporate ladder buying stuff as they go and wracking up monolithic personal debt.
Of course they're a menace. Other people might get the impression that consumerism isn't the be all and end all of human existence. And where would we be then? People might actually start to object to Howard's fascism and the world-domination by corporations.
Only if they're economically (consumerate) productive and don't actually participate in Australian society as citizens!
I love the response you get to "product of society" statements. You know no-one can blame society for any measure of environmental affect on the human psyche. We're all stoic islands in the sea of humanity, unless we're good little consumers, then we're worthwhile contributors to the good of the nation.
A nation that only supports those who contribute to comodification of humanity.
