I don't dream about a "utopian" society, I believe that we humans can get along better, have better health, live in decent accomadation, and be better educated. A change in the type of economy we are currently using would help with those aims. The propaganda regarding the "red under the bed" style of everyone looking, dressing, being the same is not part of my ideas.

I disagree. Compebreastion IS good for the spirit, providing we all start at the same starting blocks. At present, we don't. The far-left wankers you refer to, are just that, wankers. I have the same disregard for the PC wankers, or any type of wankers. I do believe that education is about teaching people the ability to think and analyse things for themselves, and not just about the ability to recite memorised facts and figures, though some of that knowledge is extremely important as well.

I never would want to see this country turn into a nation of clones. I don't believe that socialism does that to a society, but societies need the resources and the options to give the people different choices. Sanctions and lack of trading partners tend to give people less options, which can be seen in some of the socialist countries of the past.
