URGENT ACTION
RALLY FOR WEST PAPUAN REFUGEE BOAT PEOPLE
43 West Papuans have arrived by boat in Far North Queensland seeking asylum in Australia. They have been 'taken into detention' and the Government is now trying to work out what to do with them.
There is a significant danger they will be taken to remote Christmas Island detention centre or Baxter Detention centre in South Australia.
Please support this urgent rally in support of the West Papuans and calling on the Government to let them live in the community while there claims are buttessed.
West Papua was invaded by Indonesia in 1961 and like East Timor the people have been subject to terrible military repression. These refugees are important members of the independence movement who are fleeing the escalating human rights violations of the past few months. For more
