If so many people have gone out on a limb to accuse Giuliana Sgrena of lying, if the US government wants to stick to the various claims it has made concerning the whys and hows of the shooting incident which caused the rest of one pbuttenger and injuries of at least two others, and if Bush has pledged a full, joint investigation with the Italians, then full and impartial examination of all existing forensic evidence is indispensable to clear the air.
(The apologist quoted in the report says: ``Forget the car . . .'' How odd?, Would our own law-enforcement stand for this when a crime investigation is in progress? What a joke!)
But I guess the person who could lie his way to launch an illegal war which has caused mbuttive destruction and loss of lives is certainly very capable of lying again if the forensic evidence should turn out to incriminate his war machine, even if reversing his pledge to the Italian people for a full investigation would leave a permanent cloud of suspicion concerning the real American intention for shooting the car in which the war machine's much-hated Italiana was a pbuttenger.
And given how much the super-spy former ambbuttador John Negroponte is always known to be quietly on top of everything occurring within his jurisdiction, I don't blame anyone who suspects that the Italiana, Giulian Sgrena, was the target of buttbuttination. In other words, the mobile check-point unit might not have known who was coming, but it didn't need to. All it required was for Negroponte to instruct his office to order the placement of such a unit in the right artery and buttign a level of gravity which would authorize the unit to shoot at anything that move, regardless of the road condition and the crawling speed a moving vehicle was forced to take in heavy rain.
Of course we know Berlusconi and some of his ministers are quite shameless in butterting that Sgrena wasn't the intended target. How did they know? They seem to be more worried about Bush than their own people whom they are supposed to serve.

U.S. blocks Italians from examining hostage car 3-23-2005 10:00:00 PM GMT

The U.S. military command in Iraq has blocked two Italian policemen from examining the car in which an Italian intelligence agent was shot to rest in Baghdad, a newspaper said Wednesday.
According to the Italian daily the Corriere della Sera the policemen were about to leave when the Italian Embbutty in Baghdad received an order from the U.S. command to abort the mission for security concerns.
The embbutty in Baghdad reportedly alerted Rome authorities, who called off the trip.
The car, a Toyota Corolla, is reportedly still in American hands, at Baghdad airport where it was originally rented.
The Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome declined to comment on the report, while officials at the Italian Embbutty in Baghdad could not immediately be reached.
The U.S. military in Baghdad also had no immediate comment to make.
Italian authorities have continuously stated that examining the car is vital to buttessing what happened on March 4, when American troops opened fire on the car carrying secret service agent Nicola Calipari, another intelligence officer and journalist Giuliana Sgrena, who had just been released after a month of captivity in Iraq.
Calipari died on the spot, while the other two were wounded.
According to the paper, prosecutors investigating the shooting have received photographs of the car but want to analyze bullet holes and other elements.
Calipari's killing outraged Italians and prompted Premier Silvio Berlusconi to demand that Washington provide an explanation. Though the Italian government acquiesced that the shooting was an accident it disputes some key elements of the U.S. account.
The American military stated that the vehicle was speeding and refused to stop, and though a U.S. patrol tried to warn the driver with hand and arm signals and by flashing white lights and firing shots in front of the car and into the car's engine block.
However, Berlusconi said the car was traveling slowly at night and stopped immediately when a light was flashed at it, shortly before U.S. troops fired on the car. Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini said the fire appeared to have hit the right side of the car.
Furthermore, the freed hostage Sgrena denied any warning signals were given by the U.S. military.
Washington has ordered an investigation into the shooting, to be led by a U.S. brigadier general with the participation of Italian officials.
The findings of the joint commission are expected to be release by mid-April.
this story is in the la repubblica newspaper of italy, with just a slight twist. the two policeman are actually experts. the lawyer of giuliana sgrena has asked the presence of expert domenico compagnini, of the university of catania, to make the ballistic examinations on the automobile. the j.oint us and italian commission, has asked the italian government to postpone sending the experts to view the car. however, the experts say, that time is crucial to their investigation, and believe many things can be "covered up" or destroyed. this is clearly an attempt by the us to stall for time, while they consider how to cover up their crime. and the us military admits the car is at the baghdad airport? but at the time of the incident, the us didnt know where the care was. we european italians are praying for you sgrena
