Once again Queensland has proved itself as the most conservative, draconian and backward thinking state. 'Smart', not while this government are in power. Let's start caring about the youth in this community.
You will never beat or stop drug use. You can only ever make it as safe
as possible and educate about the dangers. Stop the human rights abuses
and end the continued over use of police powers. In other words, stop the street and sniffer dog searches - a.k.a. 'Walking the Line'. In no way can this action be justified. These actions have been condemned by human rights activists and public space academics.
We can help young people make better, safer and informed decisions about drug use. We can help them to test and verify the purity of drugs. We can ensure that venues offer the best in care and facilities.
We can improve eduction in our schools curriculum about the dangers of drugs. We can take drugs away from the black market and produce them in
quality controlled environments (radical but possible). These are the solutions.
DO NOT JUST THROW POLICE AT THE PROBLEM!!! THIS WILL NOT FIX IT!!!
Please stop the hypocrisy. Smoking, drinking and gambling accumulate a mbuttive cost to society and are totally legal and socially accepted.
I suspect that I am speaking in vain considering this government's reputation of caring for the health of its people...
