You opinion is very much biased.
Actually I have never been free in Singapore because I can walk out in nights without the concerns that I could get mugged as in comparison to Australia. You may appear to be free but then you are held back in a suburban jail because of the lack of safety.
At least in Singapore if there happen to be a crime, the police are there in seconds as compared to Melbourne, it depends on if the donuts are eaten in the station before you will see a divvy van rock up.
Do you have something to hide because so what if the authorities are looking at you. If you are doing nothing wrong, then there should not be a problem. That is why Singapore is much more cleaner than downtown Sydney or Melbourne.
Where is this feeling that you are stepping into a discipline camp. Do you live like pigs back in your own home that you have to litter everywhere, spray pain graffiti on the walls, spit or chew gum?
The laws are there because people take pride in their own country and do not wish to have locals or foreigners rubbishing their country. If you don't like it, a suggestion is not to set foot into the country.
