If you had you been in Europe in May 1986 you would not say that any more. Just a few years before I have read atricles stating that core melt down was impossible.
Possible, maybe. Feasible on large scale, no. It is just as unlikely than building a fusion reactor at the present state of nuclear technology.
As long as the waste storage is in your backyard, it is fine with me.
In a country like Australia wind, solar and tidal power plants could produce a lot more than 20%. The problem is energy storage and not generation capacity.
Are you willing to sign up as a cleaner in a nuclear power plant? I suppose slave labour from "non-white" countries will do just fine. Do you even remotely know what radiation safety really means?
Ask yourself the question, who is going to hoard the big profits on the short term and who is going to pay the price for it on the long run.
I have nothing againts nuclear energy, but only if we build fusion reactors, which might be some decades in the future.
