Well, do you deny that the word Phobia exists also ?
Because it is the suffix (latter half) of many words used to indicate an irrational fear of something.
You deny hoplophobia is a word, yet the latter half of that word, the suffix (phobia), does exist. Right ? So therefore half of the word exists.
I have proved to you that the word Hoplon also exists, thus verifying it's validity as a full and acceptable word. Just as with many phobias, it does not get listed in your word-bibles, yet that does not deny them the validity of usage.
Really? And how many people do you know use the word pteromerhanophobia? Guess what, thats the word for "fear of flying".
Just for the sake of it, google the word hoplophobia. You will find that there are far far more than 1 or possibly 2 people who use the word. Seems pretty common in the groups that would use it, much like any other term that relates to something specific.
I mean, you wont find many Magistrates using the word Newbie, and indeed youd likely find theyd be purists like yourself, and deny the word has validity.
