Leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), V. Anandasangaree asks why the donors are not trying to liberate innocent people living behind the 'iron curtain' in LTTE controlled areas.
Responding to the statement issued by the Co-Chairs of the Sri Lanka Donor Group, The USA, Japan, Norway and the EU, in Washington on Monday, the veteran democratic leader said " It is not only the Tsunami victims who are living there and suffering. There are so many people living in darkness, people who have missed opportunities and are subjected to LTTE's dictatorship. " .

The veteran TULF leader has been campaigning against the proposed joint mechanism in a democratic manner.
He was the first to point out the ill effects of the proposal saying that the proposal would give a greater control to the LTTE even in areas under the control of the government.
The Co-Chairs on Monday said they supported the commitment by the President, her government and the LTTE to rapidly implement the structure to administer Tsunami buttistance in the North and East.
However, American Embbutty Spokesman, Phillip Frayne told The Island "The statement issued by the donors was an encouragement to sign the joint mechanism. But, it does not mean that we are going to take off the name of LTTE from our list of banned person organization in the United States." He pointed out that their main intention was to get tsunami aid to the people and for the aid to flow easily in the future.
