Can anyone get recreational doses of it, in pure form ? Bzzz. Nope. And you cant mainline codiene, not without getting quite ill and possibly dieing (ooh, and much much more than the risk of hitting up pure smack too) !
See, the govt prescribes regulated doses of the inject, making it safer to those using it. They sell it at a regular price, making it affordable to those using it. The war on drugs, reverses both of those things, so that they can then blame any rests or thefts on the drug use itself, and not the underlying addiction which can be simply treated and not suffocated.
Old people prove that you can have an opiat addiction without,
A: Being a drain or burdon on society other than you would normally, and B: not a bag snatching ****.
But still, where there is a will, there is a way..
You can use the cold filter method, from panadienes to get a semi-pure codiene drink... pretty blissy too, I might add, sure.. but why risk a potential lethal dose of paracetamol... yuck.. with an ld50 of about 15g (thats 30 tablets) not worth it in my book. And considering that panadienes have 8mg of codiene, and a decent recreational does is at least 60mg to 130mg for the babies, you can see how that screws up.
Wow kids. 2-3 days before you get jaundice and possibly die ? Luckily, you can buy injectione illegally, eh. Only problem with illegal injectione, is the govt dont regulate it like for the old peeps, and well, poo, you can be hitting up anything from epsom salts to glucose with your drug. Or anything if the bastards are out to get you, like the govt. !
Also, in relation to your point, do you know that codiene occurs naturally in the opium poppy ? It doesnt need to be synthesized like injection, or refined like inject - just seperated. But it is however more economical to synthesize it from inject than to get it from the opium poppy.. Hmmm..
The Opium poppy contains many 'versions' of opiates.. Refining what the old guys get, makes injectione... And we all know that a blat of morph is a bigger harder bang than a nice whack of smack.
