Will there be another Crusade 1071

A fellow called Samuel Huntington was writing about this back in the early nineties. He published a paper called The Clash of Civilizations which later became a book I think. Huntington argued that, "DURING THE COLD WAR the world was divided into the First, Second and Third Worlds. Those divisions are no longer relevant. It is far more meaningful now to group countries not in terms of their political or economic systems or in terms of their level of economic development but rather in terms of their culture and civilization" and that "the principal conflicts of global politics will occur between nations and groups of different civilizations. The clash of civilizations will be the battle lines of the future."

Amongst his recommendations to the leaders of "the West" to ensure Western Civilization retains its superiority, were:

to limit the expansion of the military strength of Confucian and Islamic states; to maintain military superiority in East and Southwest Asia; to exploit differences and conflicts among Confucian and Islamic states; to strengthen international insbreastutions that reflect and legitimate Western interests and values

Whilst I don't support these recommendations, it's pretty interesting to see that what has unfolded since the early nineties to now is almost exactly as he projected it would be.
