And this was the Frankfurt School agenda. It worked. It spread like disease from the American universities in the 1950s. It wasn't noticed at first because of post war optimism and the atmosphere of progress. There was very little paper in Europe after the war and it was very poor quality. So practically all academic material was American and with an obsession with 'managing people'. Most of the writers had been engaged on the de-Nazification program and brought back 'method in managing'.

It virtually took over the American psyche and spread through all the media. We used to call it American propaganda because of their obsession with controlling Thought. No doubt as a result of the de-Nazification program. They had this total belief in Freudian psychology in the 1950s and used it to explain how children grew up and learnt and started managing their minds. Then television came along and made it all easy for them because images stop constructive thought instantly and imagery then becomes the prime source of information. You can actually stop thought processes by constant imagery.

Fear of Communism was the prime mover in all this but THE METHOD of control was hijacked by the Left for the purpose of controlling schooling, and the Gramsci influence of evasive language to control, rather than confrontational language. This is why you have now this anodyne use of words chosen to smooth over unpleasant facts. It's now become a Western disease. But they don't know how they got that way.

You need to be as old as I am to know where it all came from. No-one else will tell you because they don't know how things were before the deluge. The Orwellian outcome in teaching has all been so painfully successful. I really don't know how you can rid the schools of the method. My suggestion is to keep children away from 'teachers' until the age of 10, and make parents teach their own children to read and write and do arithmetic.
