HTV SHOWS VIDEO FOOTAGE CORROBORATING ACCUSATIONS AGAINST CAPTAIN DRAGAN
Zagreb ,Croatia, January 23 (FPB) - In its prime-time newscast on Saturday, Croatian Television (HTV) showed footage collaborating accusations against Serb war criminal Dragan Vasiljkovic, an Australian citizen arrested last week in Sydney , Australia .
Dragan Vasiljkovic (Captain Dragan ) has been indicted (among other counts of the indictment) for planning the attack on the villages of Gornji Vidusevac and Donji Vidusevac in the Glina Municipality . The attack of Serb paramilitary units on those poorly defended Croatian villages took place in July 1991. The footage of the attack, delivered to HTV by former members of the Croatian Army, support the indictment against Vasiljkovic and show plundering, arson and killing of civilians. Retired Croatian Army Colonel Ivica Pandza , also known by his nom de guerre Orkan , spent years collecting video material that testifies of Serb crimes against Croatia .
After returning from Australia in 1991, Vasiljkovic was in charge of a training camp in Golubic near Knin , where Serb paramilitary units were instructed and trained, including the infamous Siltovi under the command of Sinisa Martic. Dragan Sanader , Stevo Borojevic, Joso Kovacevic and Stevan Buncic are some of the commanders of units that are responsible for numerous crimes. The charges against Captain Dragan include torturing and killing captured members of the Croatian Army and Croatian Police in the area of Benkovac and Knin in June and July of 1991. All members of Serb paramilitary units shared the plundered property of the expelled and end Croats. When there was nothing left to plunder, these 'valiant Serb fighters' resorted to smuggling fuel, cigarettes and drugs.
The Sibenik County State Attorney's Office has charged Vasiljkovic for acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention while commanding the special units training centre. He is suspected of torturing, maltreating and killing captured members of the Croatian Army and Croatian Police at the prison located within the Knin fortress in June 1991 and in Bruska near Benkovac in February 1992. He is also accused of designing the attack and takeover of the police stations in Glina , Jukinac , Gornji Vidusevac and Donji Vidusevac in July 1991 as commander of the special units, in agreement with the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army). In addition, he is accused of destroying civilian facilities, expelling civilian population, plundering their property and killing and wounding civilians, including one foreign journalist.
