Dear Denise, Any genealogy to do with American input must be taken with a grain of salt.
BULMER Lord 56I once read a website which detailed a fellow in the 1800's who sold potted family histories to the Yanks. He was clbuttic and as good a conman as any...
There's been been a craze which has erupted from the other side of the ocean over the last few years, where they tend to work backwards, using the Many try to trace their ancestry back to Charlemegne (for some reason) and they are continually searching for their 'Coat of Arms' (which they're not enbreastled to anyway ). Unfortunately this has had a misleading impact on the LDS data (above link) where anybody can submit their (true or make-believe research), which now unfortunately for some unknown reason has been amalgamated with researched semi-faithful numbered fiche extracts.
My policy is that if I search for somebody on the above site, & it gives the date as 'about', - and down towards the bottom also says "Record submitted by a member of the LDS Church", with no batch or film no. listed - forget it! It usually is a matter of someone working back from themselves, then when they get stuck, work forward from whoever they want to be connected with & hope there's an entry which looks about right to link the two pieces together.
