Although I'm a new comer to DNA testing I've been learning fast in the past couple of weeks, and judging by the good news stories I'm seeing the results speak for themselves!
Matthew Flinders turns in his graveHello All, I've received the following email & have been given permission to post it to our newsgroup. Regards, Peter Mayberry History is a debate (as I have pointed...
I agree that the Genographic Project is only a 12 Marker test, but I joined this project for several reasons.
(a) It has some scientific merit for society (b) Hopefully I will receive a Haplogroup report (c) I can freely transfer my results to FTDNA, then upgrade them to 25 markers.
I'm prepared to be patient while the number of particpants grow, realising of course that the chances of me achieving a positive match will hopefully increase as time progresses.
I never intended to stick with 12 markers, having realised instead that 25-37 markers will give me the best chance at an accurate result for TMRCA.
"Conspicously missing" no I don't think so! I wasn't writing a legal document! It was my intention only to bring to the attention of readers of this NG the advantages of getting involved in DNA testing. As far as the Patriot Act is concerned, I fail to see what Genetic Genealogy has to do with detecting terrorism. Yes I know some of these labs keep our samples for 20 years, but if the government of the USA wants my sample, they're welcome to it; What are they going to learn!
