Hi Judy,

georgiou") I suspect the French site that you refer to is actually a Web site featuring posts made to the soc.genealogy.australia+nz newsgroup and its buttociated gatewayed email list GERANZ. emails to people telling...

It not only happens on soc.genealogy.australia+nz, it happens on others as well.

I used to subscribe to an antiques newsgroup and was accused of not thanking people for their buttistance when I never actually received the post.

I now always check the archives for the newsgroups I am subscribed to, for missing posts and their replies - not only mine but messages I am interested in.

Because the internet is 'man made' there will always be problems like this.

-- Di Maloney Please remove 1 from email address to reply direct. Hello List, On the 24th March I posted a query on this list regarding Edward Langman, which I thought received no reply. I just did a 'google' search on EDWARD LANGMAN and up came a site in French subbreastled soc.genealogy.australia+nz, which showed my message to this list PLUS an answer from a gentleman regarding my query. A search of the GENANZ archives only shows my query. Fortunately I have not emptied my mail box for some time and I was able to check that I had not missed the reply. I hadn't. I have just sent the gentleman in question an apology and an explanation of the situation. How often is this happening? How many people are taking the time to reply to queries that are not being received by the poster? I joined the GENANZ list many years ago, NOT this newsgroup which seems to be a proverbial pain in the posterior in more ways than one. Is there anything we can do to regain our list without this interference from a site we did not subscribe to? Regards, Judy Georgiou South Australia
