Information & confirmation of Francis Mollard

Hi,

Overland journey Adelaide to Kaniva 1883
If anyone knows anything about the people in this diary I should be delighted to hear from them. Clive Owen...

I recently found hidden amongst information pbutted on to me ages ago, a page of a schedule of rests that my gggrandfather is on. There is a lot of information on there, but it has left me with a few questions that I was hoping someone here could help me with. Some of it because the writing is extremely hard to make out.

Here are some of the details I'm sure of on him

Francis Mollard born 1841 Petertavy, England, died February 1896 Maldon, Vic

* He died in Reef Street Maldon, Victoria, Shire of Maldon and then it says County of - and I can't make out what they have written as the County. Does anyone know what the County of Maldon is or was?

*For his profession I think miner is written, but am not sure, was Maldon a mining town?

*His date of rest seems to be 24th Feb, but the date the certifying doctor last saw him was the 27th. Other records I have point towards the 27th as well. Can someone confirm one of these dates for me?

*Is there a way to confirm if he was buried in the Maldon Cemetary? I'm pretty sure it says this, but once again the writing is so hard to read I'm not completely sure.

*His birthplace states Peter tavy, then something "shire", Similarly his marriage place is Tavistock and once again I can't read the "shire". Does anyone know a bit about England to let me know what shires they are? (I'm totally clueless about the country which I guess is pretty shocking since many of my ancestors are from there! haha)

*There is a section where some places of residence are written, and I can read that he lived for 6 years in New Zealand, then it said he lived for 13 years in a place starting with Viet (I think the last is a t), which for a second I thought meant Vietnam, but there is a second dot amongst the rest of the letters which indicates another i in there somewhere. Can anyone think of what it could point to??? Very vague question there I'm sorry.

FW: John Joyce CHAPMAN
Hi Liz, I am a descendant of John Joyce Chapman. Hope to hear from you...

*The last question is about his children. The schedule says his children are, Henrietta, Ernest, Catherine (died), Lillie and Bessy. The information I have from another source says his children were Thomas, Katie, Henrietta, Ernest, Lucy, Lillie and Bessie. So I'm wondering why Thomas and Lucy were left off the schedule and if Katie (who I do have written down as dying in some sort of accident) is actually Catherine (and if so, is she a Catherine or a Katherine?)

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Tania

deb Hi Deb, Why don't you have a look, if you haven't already done so, at any relevant Probates-Wills - his parents, particularly, or an unmarried...
