9 years on entering school on the 18th Sept 1871 and left 1877, his father
being a quarryman.
William is believed to have died in vain because some neighbour thought he
was moonlight rabbit shooting when he actually was trying to attract
attention to himself with a shotgun by shooting at the front door and back
door lying very ill on his sofa.
