Marital Status of Irish Convicts to NSW in 1830Hello All, The database of the Irish convicts to the Colony of NSW has been updated to cover the year 1830. I draw your attention to the following statistics that may be of some interest...
Hi Lesley,
I have looked at the Federation, Edwardian and Great War CDs - neither of them listed. I also checked the Aust. Vital Records - nothing. And the SA 1842-1916 CD - nothing there also.
Sorry, Regards, -- Di Maloney Please remove 1 from email address to reply direct. Hi Listers, I wonder, could SKS check for me whether there is a marriage in Victoria for: Ellen Marie Cecilie JENSEN and Friedrich Julius MIKAT This one is a bit of a puzzle to me ... the rest of the family lived in the Tamworth area of NSW, but I couldn't find a marriage for them in the NSW BDMs. Seems that Friedrich Julius came to Victoria *twice* from foreign ports: *** Index of Inward Pbuttenger Lists for British, Foreign and New Zealand Ports 1852-1923 Family Name First Name Age Month Year Ship Port Fiche Page MIKAT JULIUS 38 NOV 1897 FRIEDRICH DER GROSSE F 319 004 MIKAT JULIUS FRIEDR 27 SEP 1885 PROCIDA F 219 004 *** Both times on his own ... but then, the pair turn up in New Zealand as a married couple (there is a Probate record for both, in 1937, on the new NZ Archway site). Could be a second marriage for Ellen, as she was b. in 1863 ... in which case, her name may not have been JENSEN, at the time of her marriage (and migration). Help, please? I've been looking for her for a long time ... and am just kind of glad that her parents didn't stop short at *Ellen Marie* (or I guess I would still be looking) :-)) Thanks, Lesley (In once-more-chilly Melbourne)
