I am wondering if there is anyone out there with directories that can tell me when Craig, Williamson Pty Ltd was at 8-26 Elizabeth St, Melbourne???
They are variously advertised as Complete Outfitters for Man, Woman and Child, also suppliers of Furniture and Furnishings.
They have a "new" Art Studio (where they teach fancywork) on the first floor.
One clue - it is the ame time as Arbuckle, Waddell Pty Ltd (printers) are at 20-22 McKillop St, Melbourne.
I suspect it may be the 1920s.

And just a short version of why I need to know. Because I think this forum will understand.
Over thirty years ago, a little old lady gave my mother her needlework book, as no-one in her family was interested. She died in 1977 aged 83, and only had one son.
Just the other day, I put two and two together (it is a very common name), and asked someone who I knew was very into sewing, if her husband was at all connected. As she just happened to mention some of her husband's family were from the same town (which is a fair distance away).
This turned out to be his grandmother. He was the only son of the only son.
This woman has had a daughter, who is also taking an interest in sewing. So I will be returning the book to the family.
