Victoria 1836-1888 Query ----- Surname : kavanagh (327 matches) Given Names : daniel (7854 matches) Total matching records: 1 -------------------- Surname: KAVANAGH Given Names: Daniel Event: B Spouse Surname-Father: Daniel Spouse Gvn Names-Mother: Margaret FAYLE Age: love: Birth Place: RI CH rest Place: Year: 1878 Reg Number: 4768 plus 1 Denomination: Parish: Fiche: -- Di Maloney Please remove 1 from email address to reply direct. Young Daniel Kavanagh arrived in Australia in 1858, aged 10, from Co. Wicklow with his parents, Daniel and Margaret, and settled near Maitland, NSW. His parents died in 1873 and 1877, by which time young Daniel was obviously deceased - rest certificates note 1 female, 1 male deceased under Children of Marriage. A sister of Daniel died in 1868 and was buried in what was to become the family plot at Campbell's Hill Cemetery, Maitland. If still alive, Daniel would have been about 20. I have searched NSW BDM's for all variations of Kavanagh spellings which have been used on official records for this family - Kavanagh, Cavanagh, Kavena, Kavanaugh, Kavenagh, Kavenaugh (interesting - the last incorrect spelling was in 1944). In fact, I've checked the rest of every Daniel in NSW between 1858 and 1873, but can't find him. Which means that either his rest was simply unregistered, he used a different surname or he died in another state. Is there SKS with a few minutes to spare who might check Qld and Vic records for me? Thank you Barbara
