Hi Yvette,

NSW births pre & post 1905

The Ryerson is a searchable index of contemporary rest notices and obituaries in Australian newspapers. It is the largest online resource of its type on the web. www.rootsweb.com-~nswsdps-dpsindex.htm Click on "Browse the Index".

The index covers rests from about 1975. If a rest is listed in one of the participating newspapers, it will give details in which newspaper and on what date it appeared. One then can go to a good genie library to look it up on film roll archives for that newspaper if available. Good genie libraries also have MI's on fische or in books for a large number of cemeteries, eg Sydney and regions.

Visiting Cemeteries
I used to "pick up" ticks belting around the bush as a kid. Fortunately my Dad was a doctor and used whip them out...

So if you see a particular entry of interest, you can of course request SKS on the list to do a lookup for you. Often archives of country newspapers are'nt kept in libraries, but I have always found the editors only too helpful following an email or letter of request for the details.

Are you also aware of Australian Cemeteries? It has many online Cemetery MI's.

Also, the "Internment net" site has a name search for Australian cemeteries.

The basic list I sent are all the McCurley souls buriedcremated in Woronora Cemetery from the search screen at the Cemetery. I can also send you details of any individual's age at rest and grave locations, or ashes details if cremated. MI's on the graves (if marked grave) are also available of course, but you

In the Woronora list, please add the following which I inadvertingly left off (and is very relevant!):

Thomas O'Neil McCurley, died 11-11-1947 age 41, cremated

Yes, there are two Thomas O'Neil's, the earlier dying in in 1919, age 89.

I suppose the source to put when you have sorted out who are "yours" might be "Cemetery record", or something similar.

Regards, John.

of Cronulla.
