No, that is *not* a good idea because michelle.com might be a valid domain that's already in use. The same applies to claude.com.

One better way that won't cause problems for anyone but the spammers a lot of trolls also use it). It's a perfectly legitimate email address that is used with the consent of the owner of the domain privacy.net. However, no mail will get through to the inbox. Try mailing me and you'll see what I mean.

Alternatives are to replace .com with .invalid which it has been agreed will not be used for any other purpose.

A neat trick that I was told about is to set up an email address with NOSPAM as the user name or as part of the user name - and to put it in capitals. Many spam bots are programmed to remove anything in capitals, and the words no spam. By making NOSPAM the user name or part of, the spam bots themselves actually invalidate a valid address

Another way to beat the spammers is to use a "throwaway" address from the likes of Hotmail, Yahoo, Mail2World.

Yet another way is to filter all mail straight to the junk mail-trash folder if it does *not* contain a particular word.

Putting a valid email address in the reply to field will often, but not always, beat the harvester bots.
