SCAMBARYCONDREN & variant spelling
Trying to locate further information on some uncles. Received previous buttistance which was greatly appreciated on one Norman Wm SCAMBARY who died in France 1918. I am now after any information on his...

I can't find the children's christenings of the following family. Parents: James Lockhart born unknown, married Christian McKelvie at Ayr, Ayrshire 1811. Christina was born 1796 at Kilmory Bute to Robert McKelvie and Isabel Downie. The children of this marriage are: James Alexander Agnes Katherine Mary born 1823 Janet born 1825 Isabella Ferrier born 1832

Christina, a widow arrived in Nz in 1851 with Mary, Janet and Isabella who all married here, thats how I know their approx birth dates. Most of the information on the IGI was submitted by people and there's no proof it's ok. I've looked at the OPR's for Ayrshire and Bute and found Christians christening. I've searched the internet and read everything on Bute. I have a hastily hand written tree that was handed down which mentions, Isle of Arran and Loudoun Ayrshire.

I've wondered how come an aging widow with three grown daughters would cross the seas so easily on a small ship to such a destination, unless, her husband James Lockhart had been a captain himself and this sort of travel was old hat. Which might explain the lack of christenings in Scotland.

Where might those christenings be? Joy
