For everyone interested there are a variety of immigrant types. Although it relates to Qld immigrants, if you scroll down the QSA guide explains.

Hello Monica, I recall seeing three youngsters busily cleaning this grave last Mothers Day and thought how terrific. Double grave...

Sorry it is a long URL there is a PDF version on Google if you can't get it to work, search under remittance pbuttengers. There is probably something similar at PRO Victoria.

Also I believe that sometimes the home parish paid for people to immigrate from Ireland, especially during the famine years. Sometimes there is a note in the comments column of the pbuttenger list stating who sponsored them in Australia. I also know of one particular landholder at Armidale that brought out agricultural labourers specifically to work on his property in the 1850s and his name is noted beside the pbuttengers. My great grandfather was brought out by WD & HO Wills to work the tobacco farms in Texas Qld in 1911 but there is nothing that specific noted on the pbuttenger list.

I have seen microfiche at my local LDS Family History Centre regarding remittance pbuttengers also but I have never really looked at them.

When she was alive Janet Reakes put out a CD with an Index to Relations of NSW immigrants 1848-1879 that might be helpful to some also.
