Victoria Look up =Arthur Wellington PALMER

Wish to John Charles Pulley died 1931 earthquake Napier NZ
Wow!! I didn't know this newsgroup would be helpful. So I've dusted off what I have and am posting a more accurate and detailed information request. I know (courtesy...

Thank you so much for your prompt responses!

His parents were Frederick Palmer (who was supposedly a ships surgeon who died in or around Jamaica cica 1840) and his mother was Harriet nee Hensman.

But I think that these responses to my request could quite possibly be him..

William John Pulley
HI Could this be him? There seems to be a mix up with Maria Jane WILLIAMSON. His rest has her as his mother and his marriage...

Surname: PALMER Given Names: Arthur Event: D love: Spouse Surname-Father: Unknown Spouse Gvn Names-Mother: Unknown UNKNOWN Age: 81 Age Code: Birth Place: rest Place: Melb S Year: 1912 Reg. Number: 6899

I have a christening date for him of 1834 in Liverpool. The above information would give his birthdate of circa 1831..so its within the realms of possibilities. I know the names of his parents, so it would beg the question that if his father and mothers names are given as unknown, then the person supplying the information about his rest, didnt know him that well? Given his past, then it wouldnt surprise me. I have inherited the research on this gentleman, and the fact that he is buried (thats all I have..no rest date) in Australia may be family folklore only. He travelled between NZ and Australia, and the last confirmed date of him in NZ is early 1875 (given the fact that his daughter was born in December 1975 - so surely he had to be in the country for her conception!) Now if I may ask another question? How would I go about ordering a rest certificate for this Arthur Palmer.....and would it give me much more information. I've never obtained any Australian rest certificates, so am unsure about what they would contain for that time period. Arthur Wellington Palmer was a bit of an elusive character by all accounts, and not being able to find him is so frustrating.

Many thanks to you all.

Paula..
