Hi all
I feel it is time to reply to this situation.
It's very sad that some people wrecked my soc.gene experience with their sarcasm....
Perhaps the way to go would have been to say, "Hey, great, finally some affordable Australian gene. CD's for sale". But no, some people just have to be sarcastic about it don't they.... If I'm not mistaken, I'd say they are bitter they don't have these CD's already !! By the way, I have them for ALL states, so there (no sarcasm, of course).
Fine, I'll put these sale items in the soc.genealogy.marketplace, which, by the way, I had no idea existed until now. If I had have known, then perhaps I would have put it there ALSO. But if I didn't know it existed, then how many other people who don't know it exists would have seen my items for sale.
Yes, it was my mistake to place the AVRI CD's for sale in Australia, but most emails I have received have basically said, "just do it anyway". I am not trying to rip anyone off or make money here - I simply no longer require the CD's so others might as well enjoy them !! In fact I'll probably still be about $500 down on the original purchase price for the 4 Victorian CD's. If you look closely, I have offered a free COPY of the Victorian Pioneer Index 1837-1888 for anyone who purchases ALL of the CD's. So shoot me for that also.

Ridiculously, people here are picked on if their spelling is poor, and I may have made one mistake by listing the AVRI for sale in Australia - so what ? The item has been removed from sale on eBay. I have been following the Australian and the British soc.genealogy pages since 1998 and I am no longer surprised at the rubbish emails that come with them. If the system was smart enough, maybe it could put the junk emails automatically into the SPAM bucket so no-one would receive them.
I do realise most people were doing the right thing in letting myself (and others) know that it was perhaps illegal to sell the AVRI in Australia, and I thank them for that.
If I cop criticism for this email then so be it - I'll live.
Lighten up.
