GENEALOGY. 202
Hi John, I think the interest grew from listening to all those stories I heard in my Grandmothers house as a child. (The...

Gang,

I'm looking for any information I can get on two Tasmanian families.

GENEALOGY. 201
For my mum, her mother died when she was 5. At about 30 (1970's) my mum wrote to an aunt of hers and got some genie...

One is the descendants of Ernest WHITFELD & Lavinia DUNNING. The information I have (from the "Digger - Tasmanian Pioneer Index 1803-1899") is that they had three children - Mary Lavinia, Rupert Ernest and Charles Louis. I have no info on when or where Ernest & Lavinia died, Charles Louis died as a baby in Tasmania, and both Mary and Rupert died in Victoria. Mary died a WHITFELD (in 1982, aged 97) and so may not have married. It appears Rupert Married an Ethel May EVANS in 1913 and had at least two children - Lewis and Jane. I have no information on further generations, so any info is welcome. The surname is occaisionally mis-spelt WHITFIELD.

The other family is the descendants of William Henry DODERY and Anne DUNNING. They had four (or possibly five) children, with Clement William and Mary Emmeline being the only two known for sure. The others may be Harry Lancelot (who married an Eleanor Caplen HALL in 1911) and possibly Charles Montagu (who is the possible fifth child mentioned above - died as an infant). The only other information I have is that Mary married a Frederick Archer GAUNT in 1898. I have no other information on the family -no rest dates or info on further generations. The only indication is that the family appears to have stayed in Tasmania. (and before asks, William Henry DODERY is the son of William DODERY, a prominent figure in the Tasmanian state political system - member of LC for 30 years).

Any buttistance on these two families will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
