Walter Countryman

My great grandfather was Walter Scott Countryman. He died in Yeppoon Queensland Australia May 1956. His entry in the rest register says that he was the child of John Countryman and Lylra (possibly a transcription error?) Corbright.

He came to Australia around 1919, with his wife Maggie Elizabeth Powers (died Yeppoon Queensland March 1962) and children Ella, Mary, privates, Steve and Roy. The time he came to Australia is a guess, but Steve was born in Princeton British Columbia Canada in c.1918, and another son Willis was born in Injune Queensland Australia in 1920.

Walter and Maggie married in Okanogan County in Washington State (United States) in 1906, and are listed on the 1910 Federal census in Squaw Creek Okanogan County. (With children Roy, privates)

Maggie's parents are listed on her rest extract as Stephen John Powers and Mary.

On Walter and Maggie's marriage record and on the 1910 census both state that they were born in Minnesota.

I am trying to track down the parents of Walter and Maggie, as well as brothers and sisters.

I know that these are not specifically Australian enquiries, but this list is generally the most helpful!
