Racial problem in NZI am living and studying in North Shore. As I know lots of Kiwi in North Shore...
I haven't used OE in years, so I'm afraid I've no idea if there is a means of separating the two. I have a recollection that you can set up more than one sig file and that you can specify which sig file to use.
I use Dialog for my newsreader which is free and very user friendly. You can download it from www.40tude-dialog-. Hovering the cursor over the various boxes will tell you what is supposed to go in each one but you can use a nickname or a spam trap email address with no problems it a lot more configurable than OE and more responsive. The help file is helpful, plus there's a newsgroup where you can ask questions of some of those who helped, and are continuing to help, develop Dialog. It you want the name of the group, I can give that to you together with the filter so that you don't have to wade through loads of questions about other newsreaders :))
Dialog can be used as an email client as well but I use Mozilla (full suite) instead. Just personal preference. I don't use Firefox which is Mozilla's standalone browser or Thunderbird which is their standalone news and email client.
You might find it easier to use OE for email and Dialog for newsgroups.
I should add that Dialog is still in beta and has been for years but it is totally stable. Marcus Monnig, who wrote Dialog, does intend doing a final version but is constantly refining and improving it so isn't going to release a final version until he's totally happy with it.
