After a small panic when my husband's FBI clearance arrived but mine didn't, I got mine today. And yesterday, both of us got our NZQA buttessments back. That's 2 big steps forward for our application. We both have open-ended job offers in NZ (mine for an American company wanting to expand there, and he has four teaching positions on offer -- I guess secondary chemistry & physics teachers with his experience are hard to come by everywhere).
So we clicked "submit" on the application this morning, and are now "in the lottery". Does anyone have any advice for us on what to expect? School starts there in February, so ideally, we'd like to get our visas before Thanksgiving (late Nov. here in the U.S.) so we can give notice, and move over Christmas, giving us a month to find a house and get settled before starting work. Am I being totally unrealistic in hoping for that outcome?
How long does it usually take between submitting the application to the lottery and getting the formal invitation to apply? And, of course, once we have the formal invitation to apply, how long does that take? (We have all the paperwork except medicals, but we won't have trouble there.)
I am sooooo excited to have taken the first two steps!
