Went to a company conference yesterday run by an Oz rail company willing to sponsor on above visa but the chap wasn't very confident about the visa side of things. He mentioned that after 2 years they would sponsor you further with Permanent Residence but mentioned that this would only be so if you were on the MODL list, he said not to worry as they are so short of every skill in Oz that all jobs would be on the MODL list!!! I know for a fact that my skill(train driver) isn't on MODL list, nor SOL list so my worry is that the company will sponsor me, then after 2 or so years, dump me.
What got me worried is that he wasn't sure what MODL stood for nor what DIMIA stood for!!
My wife reckoned that they can still sponsor a non MODL and SOL list person for PR as long as they can show that they can't fill the position with an Oz citizen.
I'm not sure though, I think you have to have a skill on these lists?
Anyone got any info on this?
