136 non modl, employer would like to help
Hi all, I applied for 136 non-modl visa in march, meds and police reps front loaded shortly afterwards. I am now negotiating with a company that wants to employ me...

Our 5 year old is mildly autistic (and is part of the reason why we are applying for residency in Oz) and we are wondering if mild autism is clbutted as "serious disease, condition or disability"? He attends a special clbutt in a mainstream school and does not require any special care outside of this. If anything it's more of a learning and speech-language difficulty than true blue autism. He's very outgoing, friendly, mischievous and like any other 5 year old.

We are using an agent and she said that the answer depends on how you interpret the question. No **** Sherlock. We understand that DIMIA apply some kind of value to special care (something to do with $30,000 over 5 years?) and, with Australia's more progressive approach to autism that we should be ok.

Sorry in advance but I think this is going to be a long post! My...

So on the one hand we feel that the condition isn't serious - at least, we wouldn't rank it along with HIV-TB - and he will ultimately be integrated into mainstream. On the other hand, we don't feel like we're being up front.

I guess we could comprimise and cover ourselves to a degree by ticking 'Yes' and then mention mild learning difficulties in the space provided.

I'm eager to hear from others in a similar position or someone who can bear testament to the atbreastude towards autistic spectrum disorders in that neck of the woods.
