Hello everyone! This is the first time I am posting a question here. In a short...

Hi Autra, I think you were given a bit of a hard time on one of the threads (or am I thinking of someone else? sorry if so!). The truth is that we are all different, the life I am living may bore the pants off someone else, for me I am in paradise. My husband does love his gadgets but he is realistic enough to know that he will not be able to spend money like he has been forever. To be fair we find that people can be just as materialistic here as in the UK. The level of debt is testament to that I think! A lot of people like their nice cars and to spend money on nice homes and then work all hours to pay for it just like in the UK. It's about atbreastude at the end of the day. Your situation may be different but we used to spend a fortune on going to indoor play centres (because the weather was so bad) or driving to places but now we walk to most places and the beach and parks are free. I love the barbecue areas at the parks and the native wildlife is still a novelty to us! Maybe in a couple of years we will be bored with it all but for now, at this stage in ours and our childrens lives there is nowhere else we would rather be. One thing I seem to remember you saying was that you like to go abroad twice a year? It would be significantly more expensive to do that from here but then there is so much diversity in this country in terms of climate and landscape that for a few years at least you wouldn't need to We read the forum for a very long time (my husband was Houdini) before I started posting and in that time there were multiple times I was having second thoughts because of the negativity and conflict of opinions. The fact is that you will never know how it will be for you until you get here. The forum can be a great medium for finding certain things out and meeting people but at the end of the day it is filled with other peoples ideas and experiences and however useful you find some of them nothing that is said on here will really tell you how it will be for you. There's only one way to find out and don't let anyone stop you, you have come this far, think of all the reasons you wanted to do it and be bull- headed and go for it! Good luck. Lou

BBC edits out the word person
Ed. This reminds me of the leftist ABC here in Australia. They refused to use the word 'person' to describe groups like Hamas - even the UN recognised this... BBC edits out the word...
