Our application (136) was signed for on 23rd August 2005, we then got a confirmation email saying that our case was being dealt with along with a case file number on 12th September and that we would hear from them when further information would be requested.
On the 28th November we heard from the Case Officer that we had been buttigned to requesting the Meds and Police Checks and a couple of other forms to fill in.
So I make that less than two and a half months for the case officer to be buttigned and not your 4-5!
It is stated in the email from the case officer that the processing time at the moment could be around six months. We were late getting our police checks in and other people on the same timeline as us already have their visa's so hopefully we should get ours any day now.
All times are different and can depend on what type of visa you are after etc and they have part time workers there too so its pot luck who you get. Our CO is apparently on leave for a bit now so maybe that will hold us up too.
Anyways, like I said earlier....just be patient.
