Advice On Whether Or Not To Contact Your Case Officer..... Sender: Baz

Hi There,

Spouse visa with a difference Sender: fitzroy
I wonder if anyone can help? I am an Australian citizen who, unfortunately, hasn't lived in Australia since I was a baby. I have never been married but I have 2 children, both...

We have a bit of a prediciment.

We had our independant send migration visa acknowledged on the 20th September 2005.

Thank you very much for your encouraging words. As you might have gathered from the family situation, money is very tight. We live in a low paid area & he drives...

We had our meds requested in the beggining of January this year, we subsiquently completed them, to only recieve a further email requesting Hep B and Hep C tests for my partner, as she is a nurse (apparantly the panel doctor we used did not know these tests had to be completed for health workers.) Anyway, we did this, and the clearance centre recieved the documents relating to these tests at the very beggining of March.

Our initial letter requesting the meds stated that we had to have all the info to them by the 28th March.

The subsiquent letter requesting the Hep B and Hep C tests, gave us a time frame of 49 days to get the new tests results to them (so we had to have them to them by roughly the end of May - this should not be a problem, because as stated they recieved the documents at the very beggining of March.)

Here is the problem. My partner and me are heading to Oz in Mid May, which was when we intended to validate our visas (our flights have been booked, paid for etc etc.) This time is getting periliously close for comfort, this situation is further exasperated by the fact that when we recieve the gant letter, we have to send our pbuttports to the local oz embbutty to get the visa stamp, which might take a week or two to complete. So the question is, what do we do? We never really anticipated it would take this long, and the situation has been made worse by the panel doctor chickening up, which has cost us time and money. I was contemplating contacting my case officer requesting some kind of time frame situation report. However, in his letter requesting the meds, they are quite explicit stating they do not want to recieve requests for "updates," the only reason they should be contacted is if there is a genuine reason that communications with DIMIA may have gone astray. Our immigration lawyer basically told us the same thing when we started the process some time ago. So what would you do in our situation, we are pretty much stuck.

Any advice would be appreciated.
