My query Sender: CardosHey Balu, Mate, for a start, I don't know the first thing about temp visa's, so I wont even try...
Hi there I'm not sure on the immigration front but I do know that the wages are low for electricians here as they are for most trades. My husband is a plumber and is on $19 per hour and his friend who is 40 and been in the trade (electrician fully qualified) for years is around $23ish. As a result we are off to Australia hopefully where we hope to earn minimum $27 per hour.
I think there is plenty of work around though in Wellington at least. There are big companies ie Seven Electrical and an agency I think it is called Quinn that you can approach. Once registered here, quite a process for Plumbing you can then earn quite a lot of money if you work for yourself. That seems to be the only way to get good pay. On the other hand the lifestyle is so easy. Instead of being stuck in London traffic we just cruise around and the kids are able to play outside. But be warned NZ drivers are rude and agressive, I am a NZer and was shocked when we came back. Don't think that they will let you into a lane or onto a road when traffic is busy, they will charge at your car! Off the road they are much better however take a while to get to know and get friendly with. Definately not as chatty as some English. But we definately wouldn't move back as, if you have money, you can have a million dollar lifestyle for less here. One note on Wellington though it suffers from Earthquakes and high winds but is very hilly and pretty. If you live here look for sheltered locations to live!
Hope this helps!
