Hello all,
I am still trying to suss out the best way of applying for a send independent.....at the moment I have three possibilities???
I have e-mailed the relevant buttessing authorities for advice in each case.
I am a structural draughtsman but as such my role covers many fields egs structural design, project management, computer software implementation, training etc. So...I could theoretically apply the following:-
1 - IEAUST - do a CDR as an engineering technologist in the field of structural engineering. Although structural is not listed on the SOL - so, do I specify mechanical and hope this covers structural as my three career episodes will be primarily structural based. This is something I will contact IEAUST about before applying.
2 - TRA - as a 4999-79 "trades person and related workers NEC" - as a draughtsman I could be considered as a trade persons related worker as we are contracted by fabrication companies to produce drawings and templates for them to fabricate steel structures.
3 - ACS - as 2231-11 - systems manager - I am responsibly for the installation, troubleshooting and up-keep of our 3D modelling packages for draughting. This is just part of my job and not a job in itself. Would there be enough in my role to be buttessed on this basis?
My main question is this - I turn 30 years old in February 2006. What is the cut-off date for the points? If I turn 30 before the visa is granted, do I loose points?
Or, are you buttessed at full age points for under 30 so long as your application is lodged before your birthday? So, could If DIMA receive my application the day before my 30th, would I still get full points?
I ask this as I do not want to start the application process until I know I can get a successful occupation buttessment. But, there is no point paying and organising for buttessments unless I know I will get my points for being under 30.
Thanks all....
