Hallo there,
I'm lookin out for how you get on as I had breast cancer almost 3 years ago and I'm applying for Send 136 PR. I've got more than enough points and have lived in Oz before. I wrote to the LCU recently and asked then to tell me whether I was wasting my time applying and they said something along the lines of "Normally you need 3 years in the clear. If it was a small tumour and the prognosis is good the applicant can provide favourable letters from specialists to support their application" Anyone who has a sniff of a brain cell knows that with breast cancer you NEVER get the actual All Clear as it can come back at any time-even in 20 years, so people who think like that really p*ss me off.
It's a sh*tty waiting game and only adds to what you already have to live with. They seems to want some kind of "magic cure" letter which just isn't possible. I feel angry that although my cancer has gone - Im plagued by it still in the form of beurocracy which views me as a financial and social burden in Australia ( like I want to be!! ) even though I pay for the one tablet taken daily for 3 years. All we can do is apply and hope for the best. Keep us informed of what happens.
With every good wish,
*pearly*
